Kazakhstan has another world champion, as Angelina Lukas was crowned the new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Female World Super Flyweight champion on Sunday, December 11, in Almaty.

In the co-main event of a show promoted by Movida Promotions at the Almaty Arena and broadcast live world-wide by DAZN, Lukas scored a third round technical knockout of Lulu Kayage from Tanzania to win the vacant title.

It was clear from the start that Lukas was looking for an early finish, relying heavily on landing big right hands, but in the first round Kayage managed to make that difficult for her and it was a competitive opener.

In round two Lukas started to find her range, and had more success landing the straight right, while Kayage´s best punch was a jab to stop the Kazakh in her tracks.

But as the third was about to begin, the corner of Kayage informed the referee that their fighter had injured her left hand and would not be able to continue. Lukas got the early finish she wanted, but not the way she had hoped.

The unfortunate ending should not take anything away from the accomplishment of Lukas, who stepped up and defeated a much more experienced opponent in Kayage, now 10-10-4 (3), to become world champion in only her third pro fight.

Improving to 3-0 (2), Lukas thanked the people of Almaty and all of Kazakhstan for their support. Having won the UBO International title at Bantamweight in October, it has been a very rewarding last quarter of the year for her.
