Turkey´s Hasan Kubilay Alcu won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) World Light Heavyweight title on Saturday, November 19, emerging victorious in his opponents home-town.

At the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation venue in Baku, Azerbaijan, former UBO European champion Kubilay Alcu faced current UBO International title-holder, and local hero, Aykhan Ismayilov.

Both boxer entered the fight in great shape, and it was a very competitive and entertaining fight until Ismayilov suffered a shoulder injury which forced him to retire before the start of round seven.

After six completed rounds, two judges had it even at 57-57, while the third judge had Ismayilov ahead 58-56, so had the fight gone to the later stages it could have been a question of who had most to offer in the championship rounds.

27-year-old Alcu, fighting out of Istanbul, is now 8-0 (7) since turning pro just over two years ago, and winning both UBO European and World titles in such quick fashion solidifies his status as one of his country´s biggest boxing stars.

Unlucky Ismayilov, now 6-2 (2), was bidding to become the youngest male UBO world champion in history at only eighteen, and has plenty of time to come again.

The fight was promoted by TGA Promotion & Management, in association with MCM Promotion, Karapapak Promotion and Serdar Avci Promotion.
