Saturday
February 13 was supposed to be a huge night
for Turkey´s undefeated Avci brothers,
Serdar and Arda, with both fighting for
Universal
Boxing Organization™ (UBO)
titles at the Club Atlas in Kiev, Ukraine.

However, their
planned opponents from Tanzania, Pascal Ndomba
and Adam Mrisho, were unable to travel,
reportedly due to positive Covid-19 tests,
leaving everything in limbo.
With numerous
TV stations across Europe, and especially in
Turkey, counting on broadcasting the fights
live, the pressure was on, and circumstances
harder than ever to salvage the bouts due to
world-wide restrictions.
Unfortunately it was not possible to secure a
qualified opponent for Serdar Avci´s fight for
the UBO Interim World Cruiserweight title, so a
postponement was necessary.

For
younger brother Arda it was managed to hastily
bring in very experienced Vladimer
Janezashvili from Georgia, a former WBC, UBO,
WBF, GBC and UBF title-challenger who has
clearly seen better days but must be appreciated
for saving the day.
Avci didn't
show him any mercy though, and wasted little
time in capturing the vacant UBO
Inter-Continental Super Welterweight title,
stopping his foe in the second round.
With the win,
“Hunter” Avci improved his professional record
to a perfect 6-0 (6). Game but out-gunned
Janezashvili falls to 14-12-1 (6).
The fight
was promoted by Champion Boxing Promotions, in
cooperation with Serdar Avci Promotions.
