Salimu Jengo, AKA Salim Mtango, is still the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) World Lightweight Champion!

On Saturday night, at the Next Door Arena in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, the 25-year-old made his first title-defense against Eduardo Mancito from the Philippines.

Mancito (28), nicknamed “The Nightmare”, was game and strong, but Jengo boxed very well and had too much skill and activity for him.

After twelve rounds of boxing, judges Pembe Ndava, Robert Kasiga and Ally Bakari Champion scored the fight 116-111, 118-109 and 118-109. One point was deducted from Mancito in the final round for fouling.

Having won the title in January against Thailand´s Suriya Tatakhun, Jengo improved his professional record to 16-3 (10).

Mancito, losing for the first time in over two years, drops to 18-11-2 (9) in a career where he has faced several former and future world champions and contenders.

Televised by DSTV, the fight headlined a card promoted by Peaktime Promotions.
