Diego Allan “Mexicano” Iablonski captured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Super Welterweight title on Friday night, October 30, at the Academia Coliseo Boxe in Guarulhos, Sao Paolo, Brazil.

31-year-old Iablonski won a unanimous decision over Brazilian national champion Morrama “Amazonas” Dheisw de Araujo Santos (35), and also took his domestic title in the process.

In a fight fought at a high pace, southpaw Iablonski was the more active and countered well with his left hand. In a dominant seventh Iablonski appeared to score a knock-down just before the end of the round, but referee Reginaldo Peixoto ruled it a slip.

Santos never stopped trying, and was always in the fight, but Iablonski also finished the stronger, and in round ten he sealed his victory with a knock-down after landing two hard left hands. Santos beat the count, and weathered the storm that followed before the final bell shortly after.

Judges Gilberto Matheus, Leonildo De Souza and Jose Borges scored the fight 96-92, 98-90 and 99-89 respectively.

With his first championship belts around his waist, Iablonski improved his undefeated record to 7-0 (3). Santos drops to a deceiving 5-6 (1), having only lost to very competent opposition.

The fight headlined a show promoted by Pernilongo Promotions, headed by Edinei Ferreira Santos.
