Undefeated Chilean up-coming star Abraham Tebes (5-0, 2 KOs) is fast closing in on a shot at the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Latino Light Heavyweight title this coming summer.

But first he will have to prevail in what will be his first professional championship fight, when he takes on Gerrardo Mellado (6-2, 2 KOs) for the Chilean national title on May 9 in Pozo Almonte.

If successful against Mellado, a date of July 4 has already been penciled in for the UBO Latino title fight, also in Pozo Almote, against an opponent to be confirmed.

21-year-old Tebes was an accomplished amateur before signing a professional contract with Charly Boxing Team, headed by manager and trainer Charles Villarroel Brandt in early 2019.

When he fights Mellado at the Gimnasio Techado on May 9, it will be almost exactly one year after making his professional debut.

In the unpaid ranks, Tebes was both a youth and senior Chilean national champion. He also won gold at the South American championships, and was honored as the best athlete in his region in 2017.

So, already a popular boxer in Chile, winning the national title on May 9 will only secure further interest for when he headlines a big show and fights for the UBO Latino title on July 4.
