In front
of a loud and enthusiastic crowd at the
Mehrzweckhalle in Kehl, right on the
German-French border, the Germany-born and
raised Albanian national came through by
majority decision after ten close and
competitive rounds.
Both
boxers deserves massive credit for fighting at
this level so early in their careers, but
amateur pedigree and alternative combat sport
experience served them well in what was both
men's first championship bout in the
professional ranks.
Judge
Matthias Eichler scored the fight completely
even at 94-94, but was overruled by judges Jens
Kluge and Izzet Kurnaz who had it 95-93 and
96-92 respectively in favor of Demaj. Referee in
charge was former Heavyweight contender Timo
Hoffmann.
