Christian ”Demolition” Demaj did not demolish Croatian co-challenger Robert Grguric, but he did fight well to win the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Cruiserweight title on Saturday night (February 29).

In front of a loud and enthusiastic crowd at the Mehrzweckhalle in Kehl, right on the German-French border, the Germany-born and raised Albanian national came through by majority decision after ten close and competitive rounds.

Both boxers deserves massive credit for fighting at this level so early in their careers, but amateur pedigree and alternative combat sport experience served them well in what was both men's first championship bout in the professional ranks.

Judge Matthias Eichler scored the fight completely even at 94-94, but was overruled by judges Jens Kluge and Izzet Kurnaz who had it 95-93 and 96-92 respectively in favor of Demaj. Referee in charge was former Heavyweight contender Timo Hoffmann.

Demaj (29) improved his professional record to 3-0 (1), as the fight headlined a show to commemorate the one-hundred year anniversary of local football club SV Kork. Grguric (29), fighting out of Leverkusen, falls to 3-1 (2).

Promoters were Krasniqi Event in association with Andreas Weiss.
