UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™

Russia´s Sofia Abraamyan rose to the occasion on Saturday night (February 8), defeating former five-time world title-challenger Oksana Romanova in her Ukrainian home-town Kiev to win the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Female International Super Flyweight title.

At the Parkovy Convention Centre, “Amazon” Romanova was very game, aggressive and determined, probably looking to out-hustle the 22-year-old up-and-comer from Novosibirsk, but Abraamyan handled the wily veteran well.

Abraamyan was by far the more stylish and effective of the two, landing the cleaner shots, and landing more, enroute to what was a hard-fought but deserved majority decision victory: 80-73, 78-76 and a somewhat mystifying 76-76.

The new UBO International champion, who lost her professional debut back in June of 2018, improved her record to 5-1 (2). Romanova, a pro since 2001, drops to 10-30-1 (2) in a career fighting the best in the world all over Europe.

The fight was promoted by Union Boxing Promotion, one of Ukraine's leading promotional outfits.
