With two Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) championship fights topping the bill, Team Boxing Promotions will stage one of the most significant boxing events in Kenya in years on Saturday May 26 at the Impala Club in Nairobi.

Seven years after challenging Mbwana Matumla for the UBO Inter-Continental title in Dar-Es-Salaam, losing a close decision, Gabriel Ochieng will take on another Tanzanian in Ramadhan Kumbele for the vacant UBO International Bantamweight crown.

Former East & Central Africa Champion Ochieng, a 31-year-old local Southpaw, is 17-7-1 (13) since turning pro in 2009, while Kumbele brings a 21-13-4 (9) ledger compiled in a paid career starting in 2004.

In the co-headlining fight, Nairobi-favorite Consolata Musanga (6-3-3, 4 KOs) takes on hard-punching undefeated Tanzanian Rehema Abdallah (6-0-1, 5 KOs) for the vacant UBO Female International Lightweight Championship.

Musanga is looking to bounce back from a loss to Malawian Anisha Bashir in a fight for the African Boxing Union (ABU) Super Featherweight title last December, but is not taking an easy route to do so. Abdallah is fighting for her first professional title, and out to make a statement.

The show, labeled “The Awakening” and presented in association with Pump Fitness, will also feature a seven-bout undercard.
