Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Super Lightweight Champion Zoltan Szabo successfully retained his title for the first time on Saturday night (September 23) at the Budapest Fight Center in his hometown Budapest, Hungary.

23-year-old Szabo, who won the title last February at the same venue, was awarded a fifth round technical knockout victory when challenger Oszkar Fiko, a Romanian based in Budapest, injured his shoulder and had to bow out.

With the victory Szabo improved his record to 18-8 (8), while former UBO Youth Super Featherweight Champion Fiko (24) drops to 29-23-1 (15).

In the evenings co-feature Gyula Dodu (20) captured the vacant UBO International Flyweight title when he stopped former World Boxing Federation (WBF) International and Hungarian national Champion Robert Kanalas.

Dodu, determined to win his first professional title, started the fight fast. He quickly had his foe in trouble, and in round three it was all over when he caught Kanalas with hard shots to body and head and forced the referee to wave it off.

The new UBO International Flyweight Champion is now 13-6-1 (6). Kanalas (25), who had also challenged for WBA and WBO belts, falls to 11-11 (8).

The UBO Championship Twin-Bill was promoted by Toto Box-Promotion.
