Mouhamed Sder and Zeljko Kovacevic fought their hearts out on Friday night, May 12, at the Complexe Sportif Des Ascenseurs in Thieu, Belgium to decide the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Welterweight championship.

It was a back-and-forth battle for ten rounds, and both the local man and the visitor from Serbia showed amazing desire to win. As soon as one of the boxers appeared to have gained the upper hand, the other man came back strong.

But in the end there could be only one winner, and 30-year-old Sder prevailed by close split decision, much to the delight of the local fans who had turned up to loudly support their hero. There were many close rounds, and in reality the decision could have gone either way.

Judges Dominique Schmit (Luxembourg) and Philippe Wouters (Belgium) scored the fight 96-94 and 97-94 for Sder, while judge Vincent Dupas (France) had it 96-94 in favor of Kovacevic.

The fight was the main event of a five-bout card billed as “Bufi Boxing Fight Night 4”, promoted by Mauro Bufi.
