Russian sensation Shahin Adygezalov is the new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) World Welterweight Champion after winning the vacant title on Sunday night (April 23) at the New Obligato in Kampala, Uganda.

Adygezalov, a 23-year-old undefeated Southpaw from Saint Petersburg, defeated Amos Mwamakula in round five, when referee Mugwanya Mark Jackson promptly disqualified the Tanzanian for an outrageous intentional head-but.

Up until that point Adygezalov had controlled his opponent, frustrating him from his unorthodox stance and landing hard shots from a distance and at close range. After four rounds of getting puzzled, the aggressive Mwamakula turned to dirty tactics and was rightly thrown out.

The unsatisfactory ending should not take away from a wonderful performance by Adygezalov, who did everything he could to entertain the sizable crowd in his adopted African home-base.

With the victory, Adygezalov improved his fine record to 9-0 (7), while Mwamakula should hang his head in shame as his drops to 15-7-2 (7).
