UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™

Zoltan Szabo won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Super Lightweight title on Saturday (February 25) at the Budapest Fight Center in Budapest, Hungary, defeating game compatriot Laszlo Fekete.

Szabo, who only made his professional debut in February of 2016 and has been incredibly active since then with nineteen bouts, was a clear favorite going in, having beat Fekete once when they fought in a non-title bout last December.

And again he was the better man, but Fekete came to fight his chance and put up an admirable performance. Both men being from Budapest, it was clear that besides the UBO belt there was also plenty of local bragging rights on the line.

Fekete came forward and tried to unsettle Szabo, who´s only defeats had come against top opposition abroad, but Szabo kept his cool and won most of the rounds with his better technical skills and superior speed.

After ten entertaining rounds, judges Tamas Sasvari, Miklos Dori and Bulcsu Gabris all scored the fight 100-90 in favor of Zoltan Szabo, but the land-slide cards does not reflect the excellent effort made by Laszlo “Little Tyson” Fekete.

Szabo, still only twenty-two years old, improved his professional record to 15-4 (6). Laszlo Fekete, a year older, drops to 20-14-2 (14).

The fight, headlining a big show that also included two Hungarian national title fights, was promoted by Toto Box-Promotions.
