The fight is
part of the huge “The Roar Of Singapore” card,
promoted by Ringstar Management, which is
headlined by Ryan Ford vs. Sam Rapira for the
UBO World Light Heavyweight championship and
features a total of four UBO title fights.
Khan (7-1, 3
KOs), the reigning UBO Asia-Pacific titlist,
will be facing his careers toughest challenge in
Gathercole, who despite a modest 4-6-1 (2)
record has recently proven his worth in the
ring, after starting out by going 0-4-1 in his
first five.
From Melbourne,
Gathercole defeated former UBO world
title-challenger Plaisakda Boonmalert in his
most recent outing, impressively stopping the
experienced Thai in three rounds. Fighting Khan
in Singapore for the Inter-Continental belt will
be his biggest opportunity to date.

“Never
mind the
deceiving
record, Jake Gathercole is a tough, rough
fighter and this will be a very hard challenge
for Khan”, says promoter
Scott Patrick
O’Farrell. “We
are very committed to making entertaining
fights, and this one is right in line with that.
I believe it will be outright explosive!”
Besides Khan
vs. Gathercole and Ford vs. Sapira,
Singapore-favorite Rafi Majid (3-0, 3 KOs) will
fight former Indonesian champion Jonathan
Simamora (32-30, 11 KOs) for the UBO
Asia-Pacific Super Middleweight crown, and
New Zealand
prospect Benjamin Kelleher (2-0-1, 1 KO)
takes on
another Indonesian in Santria Antasena (10-8, 4
KOs)
for the UBO
Asia-Pacific Cruiserweight title.
Promoted by
Scott Patrick O’Farrell of Ringstar Management,
“The Roar Of Singapore” benefits from the
support of Eleven Sports Network, Decathlon,
Trident Partners Asia, RightHook Communications,
Phuket Top Team, Alex Gym, SFC, Spartans Boxing
Club, The Penny Black, and Smokeys Ribs.
