At the National Indoor Stadium in Dar Es Salaam, Mashali beat undefeated Sajjab Mehrabi from Iran by close split decision after twelve hard rounds of boxing, delighting his local fans when it became clear he had emerged victorious.

Judges Robert Kasiga and Agapeter Mnazareth scored the entertaining fight 115-113 and 116-112 for Mashali, while judge Said Chaku scored 115-113 in favor of Mehrabi. Referee in charge of the action was Anthony Ruta.

Mashali, also a former East & Central Africa Champion, improved his professional record to 18-4-1 (9), and Sajjab Mehrabi, who in 2014 drew with former WBF world champion Francis Cheka in Dar Es Salaam, falls to 14-1-2 (1).

Also on the ten-bout card promoted by Mwazoa Promotions, local Welterweight Salehe Mkalekwa claimed his careers best victory when he won the vacant UBO All-Africa title with a unanimous decision over Kenyan James Onyango.

Anthony Ruta scored the fight 96-93, Robert Kasiga had it 97-92 and Said Chaku scored 98-91 for Mkalekwa, who improved his record to 7-1 (1). Coming off four straight victories, Onyango drops to 22-11-1 (18). Referee was Pembe Ndawa.

A scheduled fight for the vacant UBO World Super Featherweight title between Cosmas Cheka and Javad Pagheh had to be called off when Pagheh was pulled out of the fight at short notice. Cheka will now fight another opponent for the title at a later date.
