Headlining the card will be
an intriguing match-up between local two-time
UBO All-Africa champion Thomas Mashali (17-4-1,
9 KOs), and undefeated Iranian Sajjad Mehrabi
(14-0-2, 1 KO) for the vacant UBO World Light
Heavyweight title.
This will be the second visit
to Tanzania for Mehrabi (30), a former amateur
stand-out, who in 2014 seemed unlucky to only
get a draw with former WBF world champion
Francis Cheka in Dar-Es-Salaam. In his most
recent bout he beat compatriot Gavad Zohrehvand
(13-1) on points over ten rounds.
The co-feature of the stacked
fight-card will also be for a UBO world title,
as Cosmas Cheka (16-5-5, 2 KOs) takes on another
Iranian in Javad Pagheh (7-2, 0 KOs) with the
vacant Super Featherweight crown on the line.
While this will be the first
championship fight for the visitor, and his
first fight outside his native country, Cheka
has partisipated, and won, several championship
bouts and must be considered a favorite to
capture the UBO world title.
In the third UBO title fight,
local man Salehe “Pistol Power” Mkalekwa (6-1, 1
KO) will be in with vastly experienced Kenyan
James Onyango (22-10-1, 18 KOs) in a bid to
capture the vacant All-Africa Welterweight
title.
