22-year-old Pazawapazi (11-3, 10 KOs) will be in
his first championship bout as a professional,
having turned over in December 2013, while Maugo
(19-14, 13 KOs) is entering his tenth fight with
a belt on the line, since making his paid debut
in 2007.
In 2014
Maugo (29) unsuccessfully challenged for UBO
world titles at Light Heavyweight and
Middleweight, losing in brave efforts to Matamba
Debatch Postolo (17-0) in D.R. Congo and
Aliklych Kanbolatov (9-2) in Russia.
A former
Tanzanian national and East & Central Africa
champion, he fought for the UBO All-Africa Super
Middleweight title in his most recent outing,
losing on points to Jacob Maganga last June. He
is now looking to do better at Light
Heavyweight, and is sure to be a tough test for
his younger foe.
The
three losses on the record of Pazawapazi came on
points against good opponents in former two-time
UBO All-Africa titlist Thomas Mashali (13-3-1),
fellow up-and-comer Ibrahim Tamba (14-4) in
Tanzania, and Roberto Bassi (9-1) in Italy.
He has
since come back very strong and scored four
straight knockouts, including a third round
demolition of China-based Russian Andrey
Kalyuzhnyy (11-1) in Shanghai this past January,
which he followed up with a first round stoppage
of undefeated Salum Nassoro two weeks later.
