Universal Boxing Organization™ World Lightweight Champion “Rock Hard Mighty” Mason Menard (25-1, 18 KOs) is probably not feeling that luck is on his side recently, as several factors have prevented him from making the second defense of his title.

A former UBO All-America Champion, Menard won the World title in August 2011 with an impressive fourth round stoppage of Ghanaian Joseph Laryea.

He made his first, and so far only, defense in June 2012 with another good performance, when he scored a unanimous decision over Lonnie Smith.

Since then a few possible dates for defenses didn’t come off, but a June 28 defense against David Torres was signed and sealed only for Torres to pull out at late notice and leave Menard without a qualified challenger. Instead he fought a non-title bout on that card, stopping DeShaun Williams in five rounds, and his title defense was postponed to August 24.

David Torres then pulled out of the August 24 fight, and tough USA-based Mongolian Bayan Jargal (17-4-3, 11 KOs) was signed as the substitute. Not long after, promoters BoxnCar Promotions was informed that the venue they believed they had a firm deal with had double-booked, and forced the promotion to find a new home.

Unfortunately, and not for a lack of trying, BoxnCar had to give up on this mission this week, and have now officially postponed the title defense for a date to be determined in the near future, probably in October.
