Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Welterweight title-challenger Ahmed El Hamwi from Belgium turned professional in 2008.

In November of 2012 he lost a unanimous decision to Frenchman Steven Bloyer (12-6) after a hard-fought contest for the UBO title, on away ground in Campbon, France.

A year later he won the Belgian national title at Super Lightweight, out-scoring Tarik Madni (18-5-1), but lost the title again in October of 2014 to Farid Hakimi (4-0).

After a failed attempt to win the Belgian title at Welterweight, he regained the Super Lightweight crown in October of 2016 by decisioning future WBF world champion Meriton Karaxha (10-2-1), and also won a rematch four months later.

With seven straight wins, he got a shot at the vacant WBO Global Welterweight title in June of 2019 against Italian Dario Morello (14-0), who went on to win UBO International and Continental titles, but lost the decision in Milan.

His final fight took place on August 1, 2020 in Germany, where he was stopped by Ilhami Aydemir (17-1) in a fight for a WBC regional belt.

A warrior who unfortunately lacked decisive punching-power, El Hamwi left the professional boxing game with a final record of 19-10-2 (1).
