24-year-old Nayeli “La Bikina” Rodriguez scored the biggest win of her career, as she won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Flyweight title on Saturday night, March 14.

At the County Coliseum in her home-town of El Paso, Texas, Rodriguez defeated Maryguenn Vellinga, from Park City in Utah, by hard-fought split decision.

It was a high intensity bout with both women willing to engage and not afraid to let their punches fly, making it entertaining and competitive from beginning to end.

After eight rounds of boxing, judges Daniel Sandoval and Raul Valencia scored it 78-74 and 79-73 for Rodriguez, while judge Lawrence Louick had it 77-75 for Vellinga.

The new UBO champion, who´s only defeat came by decision to world class Diana Laura Fernandez last November in Mexico, improved her record to 7-1-1 (0).

Vellinga drops to a very misleading 5-6-2 (2), with all of her defeats by decision and four of them against undefeated opponents.

Broadcast live world-wide by BXNG TV, the fight was part of Ring Wars, a show promoted by King´s Promotions.
