Luis Jose Marin Garcia was a big underdog when he travelled to Sao Paolo in Brazil to fight local hero Mateus Munhoz Da Penha for the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (South America) Heavyweight title on April 6, 2024.

El Expreso”, 14-6 (9) at the time, was coming off defeating undefeated prospect Ali Dakroup in Germany, but the 6-0-1 Munhoz Da Penha was expected to be too much for the Venezuelan warrior.

It was tit-for-tat for three rounds, but when the Brazilian appeared to suffer a hand-injury in round four, Marin Garcia took control. From that point it was his fight, and he went on to score the knockout, and secure his biggest win, in round six.

It was a major surprise for the fans at ringside, but Marin Garcia, who has never turned down a challenge, was living proof that night that anything can happen in boxing.

Following this fight Marin Garcia continued to take on all comers, and as recent as October of last year he showed again that he can never be counted out, as he knocked out heavy favourite Albon Pervizaj (19-1) in Germany.
