In what turned out to be his final fight, former WBA world champion Yuri Foreman lost a bid for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Super Welterweight title by majority decision to Jimmy Williams on June 19, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Foreman (35-4, 10 KOs) from Israel but born in Belarus and fighting out of Brooklyn, New York, turned professional in 2002 in New York.

He had a very successful run towards winning the WBA world Super Welterweight title with a unanimous decision over Puerto Rican Daniel Santos (32-3-1) in November of 2009 on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Leading up to the world title-victory he had won twenty-seven straight, before a No-Contest against Cornelius Bundrage when a cut following an accidental head-but prevented Foreman from continuing in a bout he was leading on the cards.

In December of 2007 he won the NABF Super Welterweight title by out-pointing Andrey Tsurkan (25-2), a title he defended in 2008 with decisions over Saul Roman (28-4) and James More (16-1).

In June of 2010, at Yankee Stadium in New York, he lost his WBA world title to Miguel Cotto when an inured knee prevented him from fighting at his best.

Foreman entered the fight with a braced right knee, and when it buckled in round seven he went down from a slip, resulting in the injury getting worse. He gamely continued, but went on to fall several times as the knee gave out.

In round nine referee Arthur Mercante had seen enough and called it off after Foreman went down again, resulting in a very unfortunate way for Foreman to lose his world title.

After a string of victories Foreman put himself in position to challenge for his old WBA title, and the IBO world title, in January of 2017, but was stopped in four rounds by Cuban Erislandy Lara.

The UBO title fight against Williams in 2021 was his second fight after coming back almost four years after the Lara-loss, with a dream to get one more chance to become a two-time world champion.

It wasn't to be for Foreman, but he had an excellent career never the less.
