Fox, from
Upper Marlboro, Maryland, faced a genuinely
tough and determined opponent in former WBA
NABA, IBA and ABF titlist Kendo “Tremendo”
Castaneda,
fighting out of San Antonio, Texas, but proved a
level above.
As is often
the case, the southpaw style and big reach of
Fox proved difficult for Castaneda to handle,
and Fox used those assets excellently on his way
to a clear unanimous decision
Judges Paul
Wallace, Alden Chodash and Brent Colflesh all
scored it the same: 80-72 for Mykal Fox.

Now 25-5 (5),
Fox captured his second UBO title, having won the
Inter-Continental Welterweight almost exactly a
year ago. Castaneda drops to a misleading 21-11
(9), in a career where he has faced one standout
opponent after another.
For Fox it was
his first fight since losing a disputed decision
to former WBC world champion Serhii Boachuk at
Middleweight a couple of months ago, and he proved
that he is one to be reckoned with at Super
Welter.
The fight was
one of the featured contests of a big card
promoted by 2024 UBO Promoter of the Year, Jeter
Promotions, headed by former UBO titlist Tony
Jeter.
