On Saturday night, July 19, at the Bayou Event Center in Houston, Texas, Josue “Zurdo” Morales defeated Conner “Kid Canelo” Goade to lift the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Super Flyweight title.

Morales, born, raised and residing in Houston, is a former UBO Latino and International champion, and far more experienced than his game opponent from Florence in Arizona, who was fighting for his first professional title.

Goade was not intimidated by the accolades of Morales, also a former WBC titlist, and tried his best to offset him, but the local man just had too much skill and experience, winning most rounds with sharp counters from his southpaw stance, tight defense and elusive movement.

Likely knowing that he needed a knockout to win, Goade upped the tempo in the last round and threw almost exclusively power-shots, but it was to no avail as he failed to bring Morales in any kind of trouble towards a clear unanimous decision (79-73, 78-74, 78-74).

Now a three-time UBO champion, Morales improved his professional record to 35-19-5 (15). Goade, undefeated in his last four going in, drops to 7-4-2 (6).

Broadcast live by TV Azteca Texas, the fight was the main event of “Red, White & Brawl”, an event staged by Texas Combat Sports Promotion & Media LLC.
