Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (Africa) Light Heavyweight champion Idowu Rasheed had little trouble retaining his title on Friday night, April 18, at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.

In one of the featured bouts of “Chaos In The Ring”, a show promoted by Balmoral Group Promotions, Rasheed dominated and stopped Egyptian challenger Ahmed Swedy in round three.

Rasheed took control from the start and landed punches at will, forcing Swedy on the back foot and never in a position to properly counter the home-man´s attacks.

It was basically one-way traffic, until the corner of Swedy had seen enough and threw in the towel in round three to save their boxer from further punishment.

The champion showed his class, but Swedy deserves credit for accepting the very tough assignment on short notice when original challenger Basem Mamdou pulled out.

Having won the UBO title almost exactly a year ago when he dramatically knocked out Bastie Samir in Ghana, Rasheed improved his professional record to 9-1 (8), while Swedy drops to 5-4-1 (2).
