UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™

In the main event of a show promoted by Alienboi Boxing Promotions, “Smokin´” Joe Perez won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (North America) Lightweight title on Saturday night, February 10.

Taking on game co-challenger Mike “Maverick” Conway at the River Center in Davenport, Iowa, Perez came out on top by unanimous decision after a spirited and entertaining fight.

While there was not much between the two in the first four rounds, Perez (34) showed his experience and picked up the pace to take over from round five.

Conway tried his best to close the distance, but Perez was a step ahead in the second half of the fight, countering effectively at every opportunity.

Judge Patrick Morley scored the fight 79-73, while judges Matt White and Barry Wolff both had it 80-72.

The new UBO Continental champion improved his professional record to 19-6-4 (11). He plans to fight just one more time before calling it a day after twelve years as a prize fighter.

Conway, from Pittsburgh, entered the fight coming off a three-fight winning-streak. He drops to 7-4-1 (3), but at twenty-nine he has time to come again.
