Doing it the hard way, Bradley Townsend (14-0) will be in training over Christmas, but he is planning to spend New Years eve as the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Welterweight champion.

On December 28 the Brit will be “going into the lions den”, in Accra, Ghana, where he takes on local puncher Anama Dotse (19-6, 18 KOs) for the vacant title, at the AMA Basketball Court.

Townsend was originally scheduled to be part of the big “One in a Billion” card at Bokum Boxng Arena on December 19, but when he sustained a cut in a fight on November 25 he was precautionary suspended for 28 days, preventing him from fighting 24 days later

Instead the opportunity arose for him to fight Dotse nine days later, and the 28-year-old from Witney in Oxfordshire jumped on the opportunity.

It is a great opportunity for me to fight for the UBO title in Ghana”, said Townsend. “I will take it with both hands, and I look forward to winning the title in his home town.”

The more experienced and harder punching Dotse will have other plans, though. He sees this as a major chance for him to become a champion, after losing challenges for the Ghana national title and the African Boxing Union (ABU) title.

He knows he carries the power to hurt his opponents, something he showed this past November when he obliterated journeyman Kuma Doe in three rounds He will be aware that Townsend is a different kettle of fish, but insists that he too can be knocked out.

A classic battle between boxer and puncher, Townsend vs. Dotse for the vacant UBO Inter-Continental Welterweight title will be promoted by Box Office Sports in association with Platinum Punch Promotions.
