Isaiah Riquelmy and Simona Sarpa won Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) titles on Saturday evening, December 16, at the Gimnasio 101 Boxing Club in Medellin, Colombia.

19-year-old Riquelmy won the vacant UBO Inter-Continental Super Lightweight title in impressive fashion, stopping previously undefeated Venezuelan Danny Mena in the seventh round.

But it was not without resistance, as Mena was tough and determined, but Riquelmy just the better boxer and he won most of the rounds after competitive action.

In round six Riquelmy scored two knock-downs, but Mena refused to give in and beat the counts of referee Alex Segura and kept on coming.

However, it was all over in round seven when Riquelmy landed a big body-shot which Mena could not recover from, sending him down for the full count. Official time of stoppage 2:40.

Riquelmy, fighting out of Brandon, Florida, improved his professional record to 7-1 (5), while Mena (22) drops to 5-1 (5).

In the co-featured bout of a show promoted by T & K Boxing Promotions, Florida-based Italian Simona Sarpa captured the vacant UBO Female World Flyweight title.

Sarpa beat undefeated Colombian Angie Murcia by sixth round technical knockout, after a competitive and entertaining fight where both boxers landed big punches.

Now 6-1 (6), this was the new UBO world champions sixth straight victory by stoppage since losing her professional debut in October of 2021, and she is a prime example of never giving up on your goals and dreams.

Murcia drops to 4-1 (2), but at twenty-three she has plenty of time to come back, and showed that she has plenty of potential.
