Padley is the new Universal Boxing
Organization™ (UBO) International
Lightweight champion after defeating Lydon
Chircop on Saturday night,
December 2, at the
Intercontinental Hotel in St. Julians,
Malta.

Both men
entered the fight undefeated, so, unless it
ended a draw, one would obviously suffer defeat
for the first time in the paid code, which added
extra intrigue to the match-up.
It was
entertaining, and Chircop was game, but United
Kingdom´s Padley was too big and sharp for the
local boxer and just a level above on the night.
After six
rounds where Padley was getting more and more
dominant, the corner of Chircop fell their man
had taken enough punishment and pulled him out
before the start of round seven.

The new UBO
champion is now 13-0 (3), and has had an excellent
2023 where he also won the BBBC Central Area title
last March, beating another undefeated opponent in
Jimmy First.
Chircop,
fighting for his first pro title, falls to 6-1
(4), but deserves credit for being willing to face
a more experienced and accomplished opponent such
as Padley in only his seventh outing, and he can
certainly come again.
The fight
was one of the featured bouts on a show promoted
by Stephen Vaughan Jr. in association with Prize
Boxing Promotions, Fight Academy and Fightzone.
