Czech fairytale boxer Michal Ryba continues to build on his resume, and can now also call himself Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight champion.

On Monday night, November 27, he won the vacant title with a unanimous decision over teak-tough Ireland-based Slovak Vladimir Belujsky at Sono Music Club in Brno, Czech Republic.

29-year-old southpaw Ryba won the UBO East Europe title in 2022, and the UBO International title last August.

With fifteen of his eighteen wins coming inside the distance entering the fight against Belujsky, Ryba was hoping for another early ending, but quickly found out that the visitor had not come to lay down, and had every intention of fighting his chance.

It was a hard and competitive fight, but, while Belujsky had his moments and many rounds were close, it was Ryba who edged most of the rounds on the judges cards.

Judges Josef Duraj, Jan Teleki and Pavel Hynek scored the fight 97-93, 97-93 and 98-92 for Ryba who improved his professional record to 19-10-1 (15).

Ryba was 8-9-1 after eighteen bouts, and looked as if he had settled for a role as a journeyman. But he has now won eleven of his last twelve, transforming himself into a contender.

A genuine fighter much better than the statistics suggests, former GBC Super Middleweight titlist “Big Bad Vlad” Belujsky (28) drops to 13-8-1 (9) after putting up an excellent performance.
