Ecuadorian Jhordy “Vikingo” Mina is the new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Welterweight champion after winning the vacant title on Saturday night, November 11, in Quito.

In the first title fight of his career, Mina defeated Colombian veteran Yogli Herrera in the main event of a show promoted by Farias Promotions.

Herrera is normally known as a durable fighter, and only last August he defeated 7-1 prospect Kevin Rivera, but against Mina he would have no joy.

It was expected to be a long and competitive fight, but the local favourite put on one of his best performances, scoring a second round stoppage to improve his misleading record to 4-3-1 (3).

This victory, winning the UBO title, is very important to me”, said the new champion after the fight. “I told my mother, don't worry, nobody can beat me tonight”.

I have been dreaming of this moment since I started boxing at seventeen years old, and now I have achieved it and made it reality”.
