Angelo Habib was on a seek and destroy mission on Saturday night, October 28, when he won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Super Lightweight title in Melgar, Colombia.

The undefeated Canadian faced the normally durable and game Victor Bernal, who after five straight victories had come up short against 37-0 UBO Inter-Continental titlist Abel Mendoza in his most recent outing.

Bernal, being the local man, was looking to bounce back in style against Habib, but was never allowed to find any kind of success in a very short fight.

Habib started fast, and quickly forced Bernal to the ropes where he unleashed a flurry and floored the Colombian with a hard left hook to the chin.

Winning by stoppage inside the first minute of the first round, Habib captured his first professional title with a very impressive performance.

27-year-old Habib from Calgary, who is now 9-0 (5) since turning professional in 2020, is hoping to return to the ring soon and further build on his momentum.
