In a highly anticipated battle of up-and-coming local rivals, Jaqeem Hutcherson defeated Brandon Chambers to win the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Super Bantamweight title on Saturday night, October 14, in Hanover, Maryland.

Promoted by Jeter Promotions at the Live Casino & Hotel, both fighters entered the main event bout with almost identical records, and before the first bell it was difficult to declare one of them a favourite.

Both had their moments in what was an entertaining fight, but in the end it was Hutcherson (27) who took home the biggest win of his career by majority decision when judges Steve Rados and Sharon Sands scored it 76-72 and 76-73 and Paul Wallace had it 74-74.

The new UBO Inter-Continental champion, hailing from Capitol Heights and a pro since April of 2021, took his professional record to 10-1-1 (0).

Chambers, from Gwynn Oak, falls to 9-2-1 (5) but acquitted himself well and can come again. He will almost certainly be calling for a rematch.

You rarely see to boxers at this stage of their careers being willing to step up and face each-other, and they deserve huge credit for doing so.
