Singh
became the UBO International Super Featherweight
champion when he travelled to Bagamoyo in
Tanzania, and stopped local man Ramadhani Issa
Majeshi, AKA Ramadhan Chiligati, in three
rounds.
It was
not the first time the Indian, 25 years old at
the time, had boxed “on the road”, as he had
competed in Thailand and China, as well as once
previously in Tanzania, but this was his first
championship fight.
It was a
major victory for professional boxing in India,
and the new champion received a hero´s welcome
when he returned home, including a parade in the
streets of his neighbourhood.

He was
reportedly 6-3-1 (3) following the big victory,
and has since, according to BoxRec, scored at
least three additional victories on home soil in
India.
He didn't
gain the momentum he deserved from going into his
opponents back-yard to win the title, and
unfortunately he was never given the opportunity
to defend as a long period of inactivity followed.
However, he
made his people very proud by becoming UBO
champion, and, now 29, he still has time to go
even further in his career.
