A genuine servant to the sport, Jose Angel Rojas Alba, was rewarded for all his efforts when he captured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Super Flyweight title on Saturday night, August 19.

In San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico, Rojas Alba didn't let a rare opportunity to enter the ring as the A-side go to waste, as he defeated compatriot Javier Alejandro Rendon by unanimous decision.

It was an entertaining fight between boxers determined to go home with the title, but Rojas Alba had more to offer and won the majority of the rounds with superior activity and precision.

30-year-old Rojas Alba has been used to facing good opponents on their turf, often on short notice, and proved against Rendon that he is a much better fighter than his record, now 7-10-4 (1), suggests.

Former Sonora state champion Rendon (27), who gave a good effort, drops to 10-11-4 (4). He too has taken on all comers in his career, and should not be judged by his win-loss-draw statistics.

The fight headlined a card promoted by SL Promotions in association with JV Boxing Promotions.
