Purto Rican-American Jesus “Tito” Escalera is the new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) World Heavyweight champion after winning the vacant title on Saturday night, August 19, at the Blind Tiger in Biloxi, Mississippi.

In one of the featured fights of a card promoted by Rite Hook Promotions in association with T & K Boxing Promotions and Tri-Star Boxing Promotions, Escalera defeated UBO South America champion Marcelo Leandro Da Silva in impressive fashion.

Both boxers started the fight looking for opportunities to counter, and Da Silva was the first one to land cleanly, rocking Escalera with a hard left hand. But Escalera kept his composure, and appeared to recover quickly.

Shortly after, it was Escalera who hurt Da Silva when he floored the Brazilian with a body-head combination, but the veteran from Sao Paolo got up to continue.

Escalera showed excellent finishing abilities when he immediately went after Da Silva, and floored him again with a hard right hook to the head. Da Silva gamely tried to get up again, but was clearly hurt and the referee waved it off in the first round.

Entering the fight as the reigning UBO Inter-Continental, UBO Latino, WBC Fecarbox and WBA Fedebol titlist, the extremely hard-hitting new UBO world champion improved his professional record to 17-0 (17).

Da Silva, who had come to win and made a better account of himself than the early finish suggests, drops to 23-6 (18).
