Mexican Warrior Rojas Alba Gets Deserved UBO Title Shot

If you just look at the numbers, you probably wont think he is much of a fighter. But look closely on his record, and you will see that Mexican Jose Angel Rojas Alba is much better than the statistics suggest.

 
 

On August 19 at Parque La Tortuga in San Luis Rio Colorado, Rojas Alba will get a chance to win the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Super Flyweight title, finally entering the ring as the A-side.

He is a less than mediocre 6-10-4 (1) according to BoxRec, but the 30-year-old from Pachuca, Hidalgo has only lost one of his last six bouts, fighting very good opponents. Last time out he beat 10-1 Gerardo Garcia Pitones.

Before that he defeated Basilio Franco (3-1), drew with Arturo Torres Gonzalez (12-2-1), Jose Velasquez Espericueta (11-4-1) and Jose Camacho Torres (7-0), while only Jee Hoon Kim (9-0) managed to get the better of him during that stretch.


 
 

In his first championship fight, a well deserved one after his recent performances, he will face compatriot Javier Alejandro “Pumita” Rendon (10-10-4, 4 KOs), who is himself coming off a good result.

A former Sonora state champion, and WBC Youth title-challenger, Rendon scored a draw against heavy favourite Gilberto Mendoza (19-13-3) in his most recent outing, and will face Rojas Alba full of confidence on August 19.

Rojas Alba vs. Rendon for the vacant UBO International Super Flyweight title will be promoted by SL Promotions in association with JV Boxing Promotions.
