When ShowBox Promotions welcomes Ecuadorian fans to a big night of championship boxing on July 29, one of the featured bouts will be for the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Latino Welterweight championship.

Quorum Fight Night 5 at the Paseo San Francisco in Quito, will see local man Andres Munoz take on former WBC regional titlist Jose Luis “El Tigre” Prieto from Colombia for the vacant title, in what will be his first championship fight.

30-year-old Munoz, a decorated police officer by trade, is 6-1-1 (3) since turning pro in 2019, and will not be in for an easy night against Prieto, who is by far his most experienced and accomplished opponent to date.

Prieto (28-11, 18 KOs) is fighting to resurrect his career after losing to Arnold Gonzalez for the UBO Inter-Continental title back in November of 2021, and has enjoyed a full camp leading up to this opportunity.

This is classic encounter between the up-and-comer looking to go to the next level, and a gritty veteran who believes he still has what it takes to be victorious.

Munoz vs. Prieto for the UBO Latino Welterweight title is one of three title fights, preceded by a strong undercard involving local talent in interesting match-ups.
