Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Female world Lightweight champion Stevie “Sledgehammer” Morgan went into enemy territory and made a statement on Saturday night, May 27, in Medellin, Colombia.

Morgan successfully retained her title for the first time, defeating fellow undefeated local girl Angie Romero in impressive fashion on a show promoted by T & K Boxing Promotions.

When the champion from Tampa, Florida stunned Romero in the first round she quickly followed up and overwhelmed the Colombian with a flurry of punches.

Romero trapped in a corner and not punching back, referee Alexander Nunes stepped in to save the challenger, and called a halt to the bout at 1:20 of the opener.

A fight that appeared competitive on paper turned out to be over before it really got started, and Morgan proved she is a vicious puncher and ruthless finisher when she has her opponent in trouble.

Morgan, who has now fought six times in Colombia and certainly looks like she is feeling at home, took her unblemished ledger to 8-0 (7). This was her third championship fight, but no opponent has yet made it past four rounds.

Tasting defeat for the first time, 26-year-old Angie Romero drops to 6-1 (2) and will likely look to rebuild her confidence against a few opponents on a level or two below Stevie Morgan.
