Champions Mindset! Villar On The Road For UBO Glory

On May 13 the Dubai-based southpaw will attempt to win the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Featherweight title when he faces home-town hope Hasan Sikdar (5-2-2, 3 KOs) in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Its a risky fight for both boxers. Villar (35) is showing the mindset of a champion by going into his opponents back-yard, but the same can be said about Sikdar who at only eighteen is going in with a very tough foe in his first title fight.

Villar made his pro debut in 2005, and boxed exclusively in the Philippines until he retired in 2010. Eight years later, in April of 2018, he made a comeback in India, beating local boxer Sandeep Singh Bhatti.

But another lay-off followed, and it would be another four years before he boxed again. In 2022, after relocating to Dubai where he now works as a personal trainer, he decided to give his boxing career another serious go.

He has since racked up three convincing victories in Dubai, captured the Asian title and is now looking at his biggest challenge since returning to the ring less than a year ago.
