Stevie “Sledgehammer” Morgan, from Tampa, Florida, is the Interim Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Female World Lightweight champion after winning the title on Saturday night at the Coliseo Municipal in Cienaga, Magdalena, Colombia.

After her original foe falling out, Morgan, entering the fight as the reigning American Boxing Federation Intercontinental titlist, faced local boxer Lira Huyke who came in with confidence after a victory less than two weeks ago.

But Morgan refused to be denied, taking control from the start and applying pressure with punches from all angles. Huyke tried to fight back but was completely overwhelmed, as Morgan continued to connect with hard and precise punches.

Towards the end of round three the corner of Huyke had seen enough and waved the towel, prompting referee Uriel Aguilera to stop the fight and save Huyke from further punishment.

After a very comprehensive and impressive performance, the new UBO champion improved her professional ledger to 7-0 (6) since entering the paid ranks in June of last year.

Huyke, a competent boxer but never the less out-classed by the American, falls to a deceiving 4-4-1 (3).

The Morgan vs. Huyke UBO world championship fight was one of the featured attractions on a show promoted by Joel Gallegos and his 4X4 Promotions.
