The Abanian Ironfist”, Nelson Hysa passed his careers biggest test in excellent fashion on Friday night, March 17, at the Olympic Park Feti Borova Sports Hall in Tirana, Albania.

In front of a good crowd and televised live by Super Sport Albania, Hysa won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Heavyweight title defeating former WBO Africa champion Vikapita Meroro from Namibia.

The massively experienced Meroro was expected to present difficulties for the home-man in what was his first ten-round bout, but Hysa quickly found his rhythm and impressively scored a third round knockout.

After finding his range with the jab, Hysa detonated a huge right hand on Meroro, who looked out on impact and fell face first to the canvas.

Referee Oltion Kraja started a count, but quickly saw it was to no use and waved the fight off. Official time of stoppage: 1:06 of round three.

The new UBO champion, a pro for less than a year, improved his professional record to 7-0 (5).

Meroro, who is the younger man by a year (37), dropped to 30-16 (15) in a pro career that started in 2005 and has seen him face some of the worlds best from Light Heavyweight to Heavyweight.

The fight was the main event of a show promoted by Taulant Stermasi in association with Briget Seitaj.
