Determined to make a statement, Issa “The Lion King” Salum James was nothing short of destructive as he captured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Super Lightweight title on Saturday night, February 11, in his home-town of Kahama, Tanzania.

In an explosive fight, the undefeated 33-year-old impressively went to war with Malawian Yobe Kamnyonya, who made the mistake of going toe-to-toe with the much harder punching local hero.

It was admirable, but not a wise decision as Kamnyonya was soon forced to back-peddle while Salum James marched forward.

Salum James repeatedly beat Kamnyonya to the punch, and stalked his prey relentlessly. Kamnyonya tried to trade punches, but rarely found success as he was pushed back and punished whenever Salum James attacked.

It was rough but effective, and when Kamnyonya was caught in a neutral corner early in the third round, unable to punch back, referee Anthony Ruta found mercy on him and waved the fight off. Official time of stoppage: 1:04.

Issa Salum James took his professional record to 8-0 (6), while Kamnyonya, stopped for only the third time, travels back to Malawi at 9-8 (1).
