Tom Roestel prevailed from the toughest fight of his professional career and is now the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Youth World Super Middleweight champion.

On Saturday night at the ETV in his home-town of Kiel and with plenty of his fans cheering him on from ringside, the 20-year-old German defeated fellow unbeaten compatriot Mirko Koenig by hard-fought, but deserved, unanimous decision.

The fight had been postponed several times during 2022, so both men were eager to finally settle things and both entered the ring full of determination.

The game Koenig, who also has plenty of experience from MMA, had his moments in the fight, but the taller Roestel used his reach and quickness to be the better man in the majority of the rounds.

After ten rounds of action, judge Peter Wolke scored the fight 96-94, while judges Sergey Kovalenko and Kornelius Bernds both had it 99-91, which doesn't reflect the competitiveness of the bout but is justifiable due to the closeness of many rounds.

Going the distance for the first time, the new UBO champion improved his professional record to 6-0 (5). Koenig drops to 3-1 (2).

The fight was promoted by Unlimited Boxing and Rene Hildebrandt.
