Besides winning gold at the 2011 European championships, he also represented his country in the 2012 Olympics, where he won his first bout before losing narrowly to Lithuanian Evaldas Petrauskas, and two world championship tournaments.

After failing to reach the third round of the 2015 European championships, he decided to turn professional in Germany, where he made his debut in the spring of 2016 and had ten of his first eleven bouts, fighting once in Turkey.

In May of 2017 he won the WBO European Super Lightweight title with a unanimous decision over former World Boxing Federation (WBF) World champion Rafik Harutjunjan, a title he defended twice before suffering his only defeat in June of 2019.

Keles travelled to Queensland in Australia to take on 16-0 local star Liam Parro for WBO Global and IBF International belts, and came up short on the scorecards.

Since then the 33-year-old has won four straight, the last three in Turkey where he is now based again, culminating with winning the UBO World Super Welterweight title last October by stopping Tanzanian Kulwa Bushiri in his home-town Trabzon.
