On Saturday night, November 19, at the Palestra Testudo in Cernusco sul Naviglio, Italy, Dario Morello captured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) European Middleweight title.

In front of a packed arena, “The Spartan” put on a dominant performance on his way to a unanimous decision over co-challenger Giorgi Umekashvili from Georgia.

Headlining a card promoted by Testudo Boxing, the former UBO International titlist boxed aggressively but smart against the game Umekashvili, and mixed his punches effectively to the body and head, while avoiding most of what was coming back.

It was clear early on that Umekashvili would likely need a knockout to win as Morello (29) was a level above in boxing ability, but the visitor was never able to really threaten the home-man.

Judges Sabina Premoli, Giovanni Fiorentino and Giovanni Paolo all scored the fight 80-72 for Morello.

The new UBO European Middleweight champion improved his professional record to 20-1 (3). Umekashvili (22) falls to 7-3 (5) but can be proud of his effort.
