Paziwapazi Stops Maugo For UBO All-Africa Light Heavyweight Title

Paziwapazi looked sharp and strong as he captured his careers first championship by stopping fellow countryman Mada Maugo (19-14, 13 KOs) in two rounds for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ All-Africa Light Heavyweight title.

Prior to beating Maugo, Paziwapazi had defeated 11-1 Russian Andrey Kalyuzhnyy in January, sandwiched in between victories over undefeated local prospects Kulwa Bushiri and Salum Nassoro in December and February.

Riding a five-bout winning-streak, and with eleven of his twelve victories coming by stoppage, Paziwapazi has overcome some early setbacks and is proving to be a devastating puncher. He could very well be someone to look out for on the African scene.

On the same show, promoted by Kaike Promotion, a bout for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ Inter-Continental Super Featherweight title between Mohammed Matumla (13-3-5, 4 KOs) and Cosmas Cheka (16-5-5, 2 KOs) was declared a draw after ten rounds of action.

A rematch of a 2012 encounter won by Matumla by close decision, it was again hard to separate the two rivals as judge Anthony Ruta scored it 95-95, judge Said Chaku scored it 97-93 for Matumla and judge Robert Kasiga scored it 98-92 for Cheka.

The UBO title obviously remains vacant, but only Mohammed Matumla would have been able to claim the belt had he won, as Cheka disappointingly came in well over the Super Featherweight limit at the previous days weigh-in.
