UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™

On Saturday night (June 13) at the Salle Du Grand Sud in Lille, France, Mohamed El Achi captured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ International Super Middleweight title with a victory over Georgian co-challenger George Aduashvili.

With a sizable crowd cheering him on, El Achi did a good job of controlling his more experienced opponent, landing almost at will in what was his young careers first championship fight.

After three one-sided rounds, the corner of Aduashvili decided their man had had enough, and pulled him out at the start of round four, making El Achi the winner by technical knockout. The official time was 0:01.

Mohamed El Achi improved his record to 5-0-3 (2), winning his fifth straight bout. Aduashvili, a ten year veteran, falls to 18-14-1 (7). The fight was promoted by Lille Ring United.

Also on Saturday June 13, in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, UBO All Africa Super Middleweight Champion Jacob Maganga made a successful first defense of his title by fending off fellow countryman Mada Maugo at the Friends Corner Hall.

Maugo scored a knock-down in round four, but most saw it as a clear slip. That was not the case when Maganga send Maugo to the canvass at the end of round seven with a right cross, and it appeared that only the bell saved Maugo.

The fight went the full ten rounds, but it was clear that Maganga had done plenty to get the decision. Judges Robert Kasiga, Anthony Ruta and Sakwe Mtulya all had him winning by scores of 96-92, 97-91 and 96-93.

Maganga is now 6-2-3 (3), and Maugo, a former UBO world Light Heavyweight title-challenger, drops to 19-14 (13). The fight was promoted by Mwazoa Promotion.
