Hungarian Imre Szello won the UBO International title not much more than a month ago, March 14, when he stopped Georgian Shalva Jomardashvili in three rounds. On Friday night (April 17), he made a quick return to the ring, and was successful in his first title-defense.

At the Sporthall in Budakalasz, near Budapest, Szello took on accomplished former WBF world title-challenger Giulian Ilie from Romania, a former IBF International and Intercontinental Champion, and retained his UBO crown with a clear unanimous decision.

Going out live in Hungary on Duna TV, Szello was dominant from the start, and after eight rounds of boxing judges Bulcsu Gabris and Bence Kovacs both scored the fight in his favor by 80-71, and judge Janos Baranyi had it 80-72. Referee was Bela Florian.

Szello, promoted by one of Hungary´s most successful promoters over the years, Felix Racz and his Felix Promotion outfit, improved his professional record to 6-0 (3), while Ilie falls to 20-9-2 (6).
