Allan Kamote defeated late substitute Karage Suba
by technical knockout in round seven to win the
vacant UBO International Lightweight title. Suba
got the opportunity when tragedy struck and
original challenger Awadhi passed away two weeks
ago, and put up a valiant effort.
Having turned pro at sixteen in 1998, the new
champion improved his professional record to
24-7-4 (14). Karage Suba, fighting for his first
professional championship, falls to 12-8-2 (10).
In the second featured bout of the evening, Thomas
Mashali moved up from Middleweight, where he
unsuccessfully challenged for the UBO
Inter-Continental title in his last bout, to take
on compatriot Japhet Kaseba for the vacant UBO
All-Africa Light Heavyweight title.
